When you are pregnant things change including how much cleaning around the house you should do. Before you start cleaning the house ready for your new baby find out the do’s and don’ts of cleaning during pregnancy.
Wear Latex Gloves
Your skin will be much more sensitive during pregnancy. To avoid itchy, irritated and inflamed skin you should wear latex gloves and use them every time you clean.
Read the Labels
Avoid using any cleaning products that have words such as toxic, danger, poison or corrosive on the label. Most likely cleaning products to have these are oven cleaners, drain cleaners, rug cleaners and toilet bowl cleaners. Even if you didn’t have any problems using these before pregnancy you could irritate your eyes, nose, throat and lungs using them while pregnant. Look for green cleaning products labeled nontoxic or all natural.
Make your Own
You can make your own DIY natural cleaning products at home. To make an all-purpose cleaner mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. For removing hard water stains in the shower use baking soda. Wipe the area with a cloth soaked in white vinegar, generously sprinkle with baking soda and then scrub with the same cloth soaked in white vinegar, rinse with water. Don’t forget to wear latex gloves.
Open the Windows
Get some ventilation when cleaning by opening the windows. The fresh air will effectively remove toxic vapors and improve your indoor air quality at the same time.
Get your Partner’s Help
